Bertha L. Gragg, age 98 of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, formerly of Dundee, died at 11:21 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital in Middlesboro, Kentucky.

Friends may call from 5 – 8 p.m. Sunday and 12 - 2 p.m. Monday in the Rupp Funeral Home where services will be at 2 p.m. Rev. Bobby Smith and Rev. Ike Pope will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, Michigan.

Born April 13, 1913 in Goin, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Matthew Joseph and Rachael (Collins) Mayes. She married Charles A. Gragg on October 30, 1943 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He died January 4, 1994.

Bertha attended Grape Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, board games, gospel music, and eating with family and friends at Cracker Barrel Restaurant.

She is survived by two sons, David (Betty) Gragg of Dundee and John A. Gragg of Milan; four daughters, Janice (Wayne) Combs of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee with whom Bertha made her home with, Margaret Gragg of Toledo, Ohio, Mary (Sidney) Bowler of Germfask, Michigan, and Edith Gragg of Clinton, Michigan; 28 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Charles, Bertha was preceded in death by two sons, George and James Mayes; four brothers, Vonie, Cletus, Audie, and Paris Mayes; six sisters, Cora Keck, Effie Beason, Grace Keck, Sybil Simmons, Mertie Keck, and Emma Cox.
