Mr. Blackerby died Monday June 12, in Humble.
He was born May 31, 1925 in Polk County, the son of Clyde and Dessi Glass Blackerby (Baker).
He married the former Pearlee Lawrence on June 5, 1953 in Leggett. Jake and Pearlee Blackerby lived and reared two daughters and two sons in Livingston. Jake worked at Lawrence Saw Shop, wearing bib overalls, for 30 plus years. He was known by many in the Piney Woods area for his kind and gentle nature and his readiness to make a needed repair. He was a U. S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Johnnie Lynn Blackerby.
Survivors include his wife, Pearlee Blackerby of Livingston; sons, Doug Blackerby and wife Lisa of Livingston, and J. W. Blackerby and wife Sandy of Livingston; daughters, Jane White and husband Bill of Livingston, and Jennifer Greene of College Station; sisters, Ruth Goertz of Livingston, Cynthia Krieger and husband Warren of Livingston, and Doris Walton and husband Gene of San Augustine; 11 grand-children and two great-grandchildren.
Pace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
