Husband of Alice Agnes [La Nasheau] Boone.

Epitaph:
Tan Williamson Boone was a direct descendant of Daniel Boone. He was born in Gainesville, Missouri and came to California in 1927. He met Alice Agnes La Nasheau, who was born in Knights Ferry, California. They were married May 22, 1929.

I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith.
                        II Timothy 4:7

The Life of Tan Williamson Boone:

In 1910, Tan Williamson Boone was four years old and living in Bridges, Ozark County, Missouri with his parents, Jeremiah M. & Martha Jane Boone, and his siblings, Clara Ethel, age 15, and Moss Daniel, age 8.

He had an older sister, Berley J., and she was born in September 1892. She may have been married when the 1910 census was taken because she is not listed as living with the family at that time but was alive.

Tan's father was a general farmer and monument maker who was born in Indiana.

Jeremiah and Martha married in 1890 or 1891, and had four children. Tan was born in Gainesville, Missouri, and was taught the skill of monument making from his father.

Tan moved to California in 1927, and married Alice LaNasheau, a Knights Ferry native, on May 22, 1929. The couple opened a monument business after moving to Susanville in 1933. They later moved their business to Chilcoot, Plumas County, and then to Tuolumne County in 1954.

Tan's work is displayed throughout the area including this cemetery.

A direct descendant of Daniel Boone, Tan was president of the Boone Family Association of California for 30 years. He and his wife hosted numerous family picnics at their home.

At the time of Tan's death at the age of 93, the Boone Family Association had more than 200 family members nationwide.

Tan was survived by his wife, three sons, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Alice "Shamrock" Boone, and grandchildren, Tani Boone-Hicks, who graduated from Sonora High in 1977, and Rebecca S. Boone, one day old, in 1962.
