EMILE L. WEBER'S FUNERAL
THE INCENSE OF FLOWERS AND PRAYERS ABOUT THE BIER OF THE DEPARTED.
The funeral of the late Emile L. Weber, whose untimely death at the age of 40 was announced in the Picayune, occurred at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mr. Weber's long connection with the Germania Insurance Company had brought him into contract with many prominent people, and his friends were legion, both in and out of business circles. Many of them followed the body to its last resting place in the receiving vault at Metairie cemetery. Those who were unable to come testified their sympathy by sending magnificent floral offerings, which were gathered about the coffin in the drawing-room, and lent the pathetic sweetness of their perfume like some mute consolation.
Among the beautiful designs were handsome oieces of flowerwork presented by the members of the school board, and another from his friends of the Germania Insurance Company. The children of the schools, in token of his deep interest in their progress, also sent many tributes.
The religioius exercises were conducted by the Rev. Father Sauinier, of the Church of the Sacred Heart, and the Rev. Father Hogan, of the House of Good Shepherd. At the conclusion of the exercises the body was borne to the hearse by Messrs. J. Hassinger, G. A. Blaffer, E. Chassaniol, H. Heidenhain, E. B. Kruttschuitt and J. E. Merlin, who were selected as Pall-bearers.
As Mr. Weber was a member of the school board, an appropriate compliment was paid his memory by closing the schools for the day.
