Parent of the Great Evangelist Dies at East Northfield, Mass.
EAST NORTHFIELD, Mass., Jan. 27. - Betsy Moody, mother of the evangelist Dwight L. Moody, of Chicago, died at 11:30 yesterday of old age. Had she lived until February 5 she would have been ninety-one years old. A week ago she contracted a cold and Saturday was too sick to leave her bed. From that time she failed rapidly. At her deathbed were her four sons and one of her two daughters. Dwight L. Moody was in Philadelphia Saturday when notified of her approaching end. He arrived before his mother became wholly unconscious and was warmly greeted by the woman he had publicly said did more for him than any other being on earth.
