William 'Billy' Harrison Kincaid, son of John I and Nancy Grimes Young Kincaid, was born in Greenbrier Co, VA, which is now Monroe Co, WV. He married Susan Wilson, daughter of David Robert Sr. and Elizabeth Pennycoff Wilson. He was a large plantation and slave owner, in and around Claiborne Co, TN. He built a fine brick house, where he raised his children, located nowaday near the intersection of the Russell Lane and Back Valley Road, in Claiborn County, now included on the National Register of Historic Places. He also built other brick houses in the area, with slave labor. He was of Scottish ancestry and he and Susan had many children as well as hundreds of acres of land that was tended by his slaves.
William died before the Civil War began. When he died, he left $10,000 for each of his children in addition to his real property. The Inventory of his estate is 52 pages long with many later added inventories. In his Will, he emancipated his slaves.

The Kincaid Cemetery is located straight across the road in front of the Russell House, behind a barn. There is a slave cemetery close to this Kincaid Cemetery.
