A native of Jamestown, she was the daughter of A.R. Coffey and Beatrice Bernard. She graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Business and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Betty enjoyed collecting, restoring and dealing in antiques.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Robert C. (Cindy) Wesley, II, Ashland; a daughter, Leigh Ann (Brenty) Tippey, Lexington; grandchildren Robert C. III and Katie Wesley and Claire and Campbell Tippey; a brother Luther Coleman (Betsy) Coffey, Frankfort; two half-brothers, William Coffey, Frankfort and Robert Coffey, Lexington; and special friends, Patti Hall, Beverly Wilson and Anna Mae Grider.
Serving as casketbearers were Bob Bruce Coffey, Greg Hood, Leon Grider, Harold Bernard, Ted Beck, Andrew Bernard and Greg Grider.
Honorary casketbearers were Anna Mae Grider, Patti Hall, Beverly Wilson, Ann Coffey, Sheryl Lou Skidmore, and Donna Diaz.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 16, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, Lexington by Dr. James Stratton and Rev. Paul Brunstetter with interment in Jamestown Cemetery.
