Coroner’s Jury Absolves Kennah

An inquest was conducted on Wednesday, August 30 at 1 p.m. by Uintah County Coroner
Gilbert O. Bills, inquiring into the death of William Harrison Hodges. 64, who died on Thursday
August 24, in an Evanston hospital.
Serving on the jury were A. L. Kemnitz, Harlan C. Benedict and L.J. Iverson, all of Mountain View.
The verdict states that the deceased, William Harrison Hodges, came to his death on or about August 24. 1950, in Uinta county as the result of a broken neck, accidently sustained in a fall resulting from a push given the deceased while he attempted to force his way into the premises of Bill Kennah, Mountain View. The jurors on their oath, say that the blow or push given the deceased by Bill Kennah was not done feloniously, unlawfully or with malice afterthought, but in defense of his person and property.
Mr. Hodges was born on June 4, 1886, at Springfield Missouri, a son of William and Jane Kates Hodges. He came to Uinta County in 1933 as a timber worker in the foothills of the Uinta mountains south of Mountain View.
Survivors include five (3 penciled in the article) sons and 3 (penciled in the article) daughters. Mrs. Elma Applegate, Selah Washington: Mrs. Delores Willis, Bruner Missouri: Elvis Hodges U.S. army: Doris Hodges Kamas Utah and Ruther Hodges Mountain View Wyoming: Pearl Ryan, Trent, SD (penciled in the article).
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, August 31 at 1:00 pm. in the Hills mortuary chapel in Evanston with the Rev. I. J. Stevenson officiating. Burial was in the Evanston city cemetery.
