Retired engineer dies at home in Alganese Township Thursday:

Levi Fowler, 74, retired locomotive engineer, died at about 11:30 AM Thursday at his farm home in Alganese Township. He had been suffering from a heart ailment since last September.

Mr. Fowler was born Feb. 23, 1867 in Bethel Township and married Mabel Davis 44 years ago. He resided for a long period in Kent, Ohio, while employed as an engineer, returning to Branch County about 5 years ago. He was a member of The First Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Bowen of Alganese, and Mrs. Dorothy Howes of Coldwater; two sons, Kenneth of Bethel and Charles Fowler, of Bronson; three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Shaffmaster and Mrs. Mary Swartz of Bronson, and Mrs. Martha Jones of Coldwater; three brothers, Fred, Frank and Charles, all of Bronson and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife on March 13, 1919.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday from the residence in Alganese. The Rev. Howard Carey of Bronson will conduct the rites. Burial will be in Snow Prairie Cemetery. The arrangements are in charge of the Baggerly Funeral Home.
