George Alma Keyes, 70, of 702 Thirty-sixth, retired railroad section foreman, died Sunday at seven-forty a.m. at his home, following a long illness.
Mr. Keyes was born August 14, 1872, in Ogden, a son of Alma and Evelyn Tracy Keyes. On March 20, 1894, he married Madalin Beus in the Salt Lake LDS temple. With the exception of eight years of residence in Nevada he had spent his entire life in Ogden.
He served as a section foreman for the Union Pacific and Southern Pacific railroads many years, retiring in 1918.
Mr. Keyes was a member of the LDS church and had lived in the Ogden Fifth, Sixth and Twenty-eighth wards.
Surviving, besides his widow are the following sons and daughters: Alma Keyes of Rocjort, Nev.; William Keyes of Devils Slide; Mrs. Thelma Volpi of Montello, Nev.; Mrs. Minnie Gainsford, Mrs. Madalin Buckley, Mrs. Jennie Allred and Mrs. Violet Allred, all of Ogden;
17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: a brother and two sisters, Mrs. Alta Peterson of Uintah; Mrs. Elsie Keyes of Long Beach, Calif., and Harry Keyes of Evanston, Wyo.
Services will be conducted Tuesday at two p.m. in Lindquist & Sons' Colonial funeral chapel by Thomas Van Drimmelen, bishop of the Twenty-eighth ward. Burial will be in Aultorest Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the chapel tonight until nine o'clock and Tuesday prior to services.
