Death Takes Former Alderman
May 1959

William Taliaferro "Pete" Hollis, 50, 2810 Broadway, former alderman and insurance executive of the Hollis Insurance Agency in the Boyle Building, died last night in a Little Rock hospital. He was the son of the late John Herndon Hollis and Mrs. Linda Taliaferro Hollis.

Mr. Hollis attended Little Rock public schools and was a graduate of the Little Rock High School. He also attended the College of the Ozarks and the University of Arkansas. He was a member of the 1st Methodist Church, Kappa Alpha Order at the University of Arkansas, Riverdale Country Club, North Little Rock Elks No. 1004, a veteran of World War II, and a member of Eberts Legion Post.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lucile Harper Hollis; a son, William S. Hollis, Cleveland, Miss.; his step-mother, Mrs. J. H. Hollis, Little Rock; a step-daughter, Mrs. Virginia Dillard Belford, Little Rock; two brothers, Dr. N. T. Hollis, Little Rock, and John H. Hollis, Jr., Savannah, Ga.; three sisters, Mrs. Claibourne W. Conway, Little Rock; Mrs. R. W. Rogers, Grosse Pointe, Mich., and Mrs. W. A. Leary, Baton Rouge, La., and three grandchildren.

Burial will be in Mt. Holly Cemetery Mausoleum.
