John H. Wilmes, 59, of New Market died Saturday morning at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha, where he had been taken the evening before.
The funeral mass will be at 10 am Tuesday at St Clare Catholic Church with Father Nelo Leto officiating. The wake service will be at 8 pm this Monday evening at Walker Funeral Home. Burial is in Memory Cemetery at New Market.
Mr Wilmes was born June 5, 1916 at Parnell, Mo, the son of John George Wilmes and Magdalena Hinkle. He had been a farmer and later worked for Taylor County.
His wife Lela preceded him in death in 1970.
He is survived by seven children: John Larry Wilmes of Savannah, Mo, Mrs Lyle (Judy) Alexander of Gravity, Sharon Wilmes of Ralston, Neb, Mrs Tony (Connie) Silva of New Market, Michael Wilmes and Mrs John (Debbie) Strelko of Ralston, and Gregory Wilmes of the home. There are 13 grandchildren.
Brothers are Ernest Wilmes of Conception Jct, Mo, Marion Wilmes of Maryville, Mo, Ambrose Wilmes of Ida Grove, and Allie Wilmes of Stanberry, Mo. Sisters are Mrs Byron (Viola) Yates of Maryville, Mo, and Mrs Jim (Pat) O'Donnell of Bolckow, Mo.
Mrs Ruth Garrett will be organist at the service. Casket bearers will be Leslie Yearous, Pat Yearous, Floyd Jobe, Orval Ridnour, Bradley Larson, and Ralph Cozad.
