Son of Jacob and Mary Jane (Cunningham) Meeks.
Mary Jane (Cunningham) Meeks is buried in Stukey Cemetery but Jacob Meeks' grave is not in Stukey Cemetery. Jacob remarried, had a second family and died/buried in Newton County, MO.

James White Meeks married his first wife, Hannah Ellen Moore on February 20, 1876. He and Ellen had two children: Gertrude and Edward. Ellen passed away in 1881, leaving him with the two small children. James employed Emma Rebecca Klingman Zimmerman as housekeeper/nanny to his children.
Emma also had two small children: Nora Belle 1873-1938 and George 1877- ?
James and Emma married on April 26th, 1882.
James served for the Union in the 7th Calvary Missouri. Emma received his Civil War pension when he passed away from consumption in Fall 1897.

James W. Meeks, we remember Jim Polk,
Was full of good humor, frolic and joke.
But camp life exposure, well known to us all.
Impaired his health sadly, but he lived 'till last fall.
