Former Jackson Resident Dies, At Meridian Home

Meridian, Aug. 28—Mrs. Mary Tankersley passed away at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Buchanan, at 4257 Poplar Springs Drive Thursday evening. Mrs. Tankersley formerly resided in Jackson, and moved here a year and a half ago to reside with her daughter. She was born at Prentiss, the daughter of Dr. Samuel Wade and Sarah Mosley Banks.

The deceased was a member of the first Presbyterian Church of Jackson. She was a fine Christian character and devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Tankersley was a talented musician, having studied music at Cincinnati and taught music for many years prior to her marriage.

The body was carried from the Williams Funeral Home to Abbeville early Friday morning. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 3:00 from the Methodist Church at Abbeville. Interment followed in the Abbeville Cemetery.

Those who survive are: a daughter, Mrs. Frank Buchanan of Meridian; two sisters, Mrs. Sam Bonds of Abbeville, and Mrs. Cassie Collum of Pontotoc County, three brothers, Tom Banks of Abbeville, Dr. E. J. Banks of Ellisville, and Henry Banks of Pontotoc County, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
