DIED
SCHUNEMAN. In Spirit Lake, January 13th, 1897, Merl, Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Schuneman, aged three and six months.
The sudden taking away of this bright little girl, the only child, is a sad blow to the fond parents. She was sick less than thirty-six hours, coming down with a severe attack of indigestion which developed into spasms, causing death almost without warning. Less than eighteen months ago the death angel visited this home taking away a little babe. Little Merl will be sadly missed, indeed.
Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church this morning at 10:00 o'clock by the pastor.
The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereft ones.
Born on Earth,
A tender bud,
But not to bloom.
Nor yet stay, In age to droop,
Till youthful beauty fade.
And true the breath of earth
Might blast the bud.
But see how tenderly
The Father breaks this choicest slip
From the parental Vine-
The soil prepared has He,
and a choice spot so beautiful
Where it may grow and flourish
In Heaven's sweet purity.
