Son of Nathaniel Cole and Abigail Oviatt.


Married first to Laura A. Fuller (daughter of Matthew Fuller and Martha Arnold).

They married 1806.

Children of Nathaniel Cole, Jr. and Laura A. Fuller:

Lewis F. Cole (1807-1881), Minerva Delia Cole Ruggles (1808-1895), and Asa Walker Cole (1810-1866). Brothers Lewis F. Cole and Asa Walker Cole both married Merchant sisters.


The family is found in the 1810 US Federal Census for Hoosick Rensselaer County, New York. After her death, Nathaniel Cole, Jr. returned to Broome County, New York and married before 1815 to Catherine Bries (daughter of Gerritt Teunis Van Vechten Brieese and Gertrude Groesbeck).


Nathaniel Cole and second wife Catherine Bries had the following children: Gerritt Nathaniel Cole (1816-1827), Robert Haswell Cole (1818-18270), James Henry Cole (1823-1893), Abigail Gertrude Cole Fonda (1823-1916), Dewitt Clinton Cole (1825-1827). Brothers Gerritt Nathaniel Cole, Robert Haswell Cole and Dewitt Clinton Cole all died of dysentery in September 1827.
