He was survived by his wife and daughter, his mother Gertrude Griffith, two brothers, Paul and Wendell Griffith, four sisters, Florence Susannah Griffith, Helen Griffith Lindquist, Blanche Emily Griffith Greenlee, and Virginia Griffith Franz. One brother (Leland) and one sister (Catherine) preceded him in death. He was a member of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of WW2, having served in the Navy. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa.
He was well known for his humor and wit. He always had a twinkle in his eye and enjoyed a good joke. He was particularly devoted to his mother and would call her every Saturday night and then visit her on Sunday afternoon. He volunteered to serve in the Navy, during WW2 even though he didn't have to go due to his age. He has been sadly missed by his family over the years following his death.
