The death of Ralph L. Shattuck occurred Wednesday morning at the home of his sister Mrs. George Brooks, after a lingering illness covering a period of eighteen months.
Mr. Shattuck was born August 24, 1854, in Calhoun county, Mich. About two years later he came with his parents to Buchanan county, and the greater part of his life has been spent here. About twenty ago he went to Colorado and remained there for about fifteen years, but, he returned about five years ago and has since made this his home. At the time he was overcome with ill health he was employed by Dr. D. P. Shattuck, and had been making his home with him. He recovered enough last summer to make a trip to Nebraska, and since his return early in the fall he has lived with his sister. He leaves a wife and a son, Earl who are living in Colorado; also four brothers and two sisters: Mrs. George Brooks and F. R. Shattuck of this city; Dr. E. E. Shattuck of Kansas City; Clarence and Leon Shattuck and Mrs. Inez Roszell, of St. Edwards, Neb. The funeral took place Friday afternoon at one o'clock at the home of George Brooks.
