Civil war veteran; residence at time of Muster: Pine Rock, IL; Date of muster: Sept 4, 1862; Mustered out Jan. 10, 1865; 74th Illinois Inf., Member GAR.
He was born in Auburn, Penn May 24, 1841 and died at the home of his daughter Mrs Harry Foster November 9, 1925. Edna Foster lived at Toledo, IA at the time of his death. He was married in Illinois and had one son Lewis and that wife died about 50 years ago.
He than married Charity W Wheeler on Jan 1, 1871 and they had two daughters. She died seven years after the marriage. He was again married to Christina Punchart at Marengo in 1883 and they had eight children. Two dying in infancy.
In the 1910 census he is living in Belle Plaine and his wife is still living and in 1920 census he is listed as widowed.
