Obituary
Buster Babb was born at Springfield, South Dakota, on December 26, 1909, to Wesley and Alice (McKenna) Babb. In 1910, the family came to homestead in Butte County. Buster attended school in the Twilight area. He worked for Hank Wahlfeldt for several years getting his start by taking his wages in cattle. He also sheared sheep for over 50 years.

He was married to Linda Sundstrom at Newcastle, WY, on October 17, 1939. The couple owned and operated a sheep and cattle ranch which included the original family homestead his entire married life. He retired in 1993 and the couple continued to live at the ranch.

Buster died at the Sturgis Community Hospital on Saturday, November 1, 1997, at the age of 87.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, a member of the Sampont School Board for many years, and the ASCS Board in Butte County. In 1988, Buster was honored by the South Dakota Sheepgrowers Assoc. as "Sheep Producer of the Year."

Survivors include his wife, Linda of Newell; one son, Gary Babb and his wife, Lawren of Newell; two daughters, Diana Glover and husband Ron of Rapid City and Bonnie Lange and her husband, Bill of Newell; one sister, Gladys Keene of Newell; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandsons, one sister, Evelyn Glover, and his parents.

A memorial has been established to the First Lutheran Church, and the Newell and Mud Butte Volunteer Fire Departments."
