Mrs. Mattie Sarah Griffin Browder, 89, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born in Stokes County on May 8, 1918, to the late James W. Griffin and Arzine Westmoreland Griffin. Mrs. Browder was a member of Poplar Springs Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing, baking and dancing and was a huge Elvis Presley fan. Mrs. Browder loved children and provided daycare in her home for over 60 children during her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Browder; two sisters, Myrtle Bodenhamer and Maxine Griffin; and a half brother and sister, Russell Tuttle and Posey Rutledge.
