Crescent City - Robert Lee Ashton (1867-1948), age 81, passed away Friday night at his home here, after an extended illness.
The deceased was born and reared in St. Augustine, and spent his entire lifetime in Florida. He had resided here ever since 1923, and was highly esteemed by the entire community. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Katherine Allen Ashton; two daughters, Mrs. Inez Summerall of St. Augustine, and Mrs. Irma Lee Hartley of Crescent City; one sister, Mrs. P. C. Alden of St. Augustine, and one brother, Paul Francis Ashton of Macon.
Funeral services were held Monday morning in the First Methodist Church, with Rev. Gordon Brooks and Rev. G. E. Graden officiating. Interment was in Eden cemetery, with Clayton Frank Funeral Home in charge. (Palatka Times-Herald Obituary dtd Friday, 15 Oct 1948.)
