William D. Wagstaff was born January 3, 1918 in Magna, Utah to Samuel I. and Violet K. Lloyd Wagstaff. He passed away peacefully at his home on September 19, 2001.

He graduated from South High School, attended the University of Utah, fulfilled a mission in Great Britain and when World War II broke out, finished his mission in South Dakota. He met and married his wife Valerie Peck in the Salt Lake Temple on November 9, 1940. Five children blessed their marriage: Lanny (Jane) Wagstaff; Commander Cathy Lee Wagstaff, U.S. Navy; Lynne (Rudy) Matthes; Raymond (Chris) Wagstaff; Lloyd (Christina) Wagstaff; and eight grandchildren.

After the passing of his first wife in 1985, he then married Marjorie Morgan Gray on January 7, 1986 in the Hawaiian Temple and enjoyed a warm and loving relationship of fifteen years. Marjorie survives with her five children: Karen (Lee) Matthews; Jerry Gray; Nancy (Lee) Porter; John (Diana) Gray, and Jim (Judy) Gray. Bill was a man loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 24, 2001 at 12:00 p.m. in the Monument Park Third Ward Chapel, 2215 East Roosevelt Avenue, Salt Lake City. Friends may call on Sunday, September 23, 2001 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake City, and Monday at the church from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Interment: Wasatch Lawn, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East), East Millcreek.
