William Cardiff Dies at Age 91

William E. Cardiff, 91, 620 NW 4th Street, died at 2:35 a.m. Tueseday at his home.
He was born February 24, 1884, in Lynn Township, Knox County, one of seven children of Edward and Latrobe Sellon Cardiff. He was educated in Galva High School and attended Bradley University in Peoria where he lettered in football. After his schooling, he started farming and followed this occupation most of his life. He was a charter member of Farm Bureau in both Henry and Knox Counties and a charter member of the board of REA.
He was married to Hazel Packer of Toulon in 1915 and she died in 1925. He was married to Harriet Zugschwerdt June 2, 1937, at Manlius, Ill.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet, Galva; two sons, William F. Cardiff, Galva; Robert I. Cardiff, Deerfield, Ill.; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Amy Cardiff Whipple, Monrovia, Calif., and Mrs. Jessie Cardiff Pope, Monmouth, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, three sisters and his first wife.
Private funeral services will be held with cremation in Davenport, Iowa.
Calling hours will he held from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the Johnson-Gill-Schuster Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund, Cancer Fund or the Galva Public Library.
