age 87, of Salt Lake City, UT, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2005. Jean was
born on November 26, 1917, in Salt Lake City, UT, to Robert LeRoy and Millie
Davis Shepherd. Jean worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, Murray Laundry,
and later retired from Fireman's Fund Insurance. She loved gardening and her
rose garden was her special delight. She was an avid reader, loved to learn
about history and she loved her children and grandchildren dearly. Special
thanks to Bennion Care Center who were instrumental this last year for their
loving and caring treatment of our mother. Also thanks to our precious angel,
Crystal. Jean is survived by her three sons: David E. (Vernona), Michael S.
(Verlaine), Grant Lee (Margaret) Nicholas, and one daughter, Kathleen Dean
(Steven) Horne; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by
her husbands, Eldred "Bud" Nicholas and later Herbert Dean, Jr., also two
brothers, Morrill and Lockwood Shepherd and two sisters, Emily Shepherd Ellis
and Anna Shepherd Shepherd. Graveside services for Jean will be held Monday,
May 9, 2005 at 1 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 North "N" Street.
Friends may call on Monday morning from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the
Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E. prior to the graveside services. In lieu of
flowers, please send donations to Primary Children's Hospital, 100 N. Medical
