Jack La Grande, 82, Klamath Falls, died Sunday in Bend.

He was born in Illinois to Hewellya and Della Bartlett.

He was active in radio broadcasting and was program manager of KXA radion in Seattle, Wash.

He also was a musical entertainer of the Orpheum circuit.

Mr. La Grande was married to Florence Literal in Everett, WA, Dec. 5, 1934. They moved to Nevada, where they lived for 10 years before moving to Klamath Falls in 1944.

He learned carpentry skills from his family as a young man and was employed as a carpenter while assisting in the building of the marine barracks in Klamath Falls.

During the formation of Oregon Institute of Technology, he taught cabinet making and carpentry for 11 years. He also taught the Oregon State Apprenticeship classes at Klamath Union High School for a number of years.

In the late 1960s he became employed by Klamath County, woring in maintenance.

Mr. LaGrande was a member of the the Aloha Chapter No. 61 Eastern Star, where he was a past patron, and Klamath Masonic Lodge No. 77 A.F. & A.M.

He enjoyed fishing and was a charter member of Klamath Fly Casters Association.

Survivors include his wife, Florence, Klamath Falls; daughters Rama Trapman, Bend, Pamela Hauff, Sandy, and Janice Puckett, Lake Oswego; sister, Phyllis Thompson, Citrus Heights, CA; and 10 grandchildren.
