Sarah (Sally) Elizabeth Minchin Barker (1890-1986) loved the theater. It was said by those who knew her that she devoted her life to it. Sally performed with The Players, now known as America's Oldest Little Theatre. Today you can see their plays at the Barker Playhouse on Benefit Street, near the Brown Campus. She also was a coach of the Komians, an all-women's theater group at Brown founded in 1901. Much of the history of Brown's theater is encapsulated by Sally's life.

Sally graduated in the class of 1913 from the Women's College at Brown University. In 1918, she married fellow theater enthusiast Henry Ames Barker (1866-1929) (BP 225). She was thereafter known as Sarah (Sally) Minchin Barker.
