Charles Gottlieb Jr was the eldest of 9 children and the only one born in Saint Louis.
His parents,Charles Sr and Louisa were born in Riellingshausen Germany and married there in 1885. Charles Sr made his first trip with his brother to the US in 1883 to Saint Louis, MO and a second trip in 1885. After living in St Louis for 2 years they moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1887. They had 3 girls and 6 boys. This included one set of twins.
