Maxine Van Woert, 93, of Canistota passed away on Saturday, May 19 at Canistota Good Samaritan Center. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Friday, May 25 at Zion Lutheran Church in Canistota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Maxine McKillop was born on October 10, 1918 to Floyd and Amelia (Kostboth) McKillop in Sioux City, South Dakota. She graduated from Canistota High School in 1936. Maxine married Jerry Ondrozeck and they had two sons together, Dennis and Donald. After Jerry's death, on June 1, 1960, Maxine married Dwight Van Woert. Maxine was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Canistota for many years. Her church always played a very important role in her life. She also belonged to Ladies Aid. Aunt "Mac" loved to bake for her family and friends. She loved her family and especially enjoyed discussions with and about her family, as she knew a great deal about their history. Maxine is survived by: her daughter, Donna (Dan) Horning of Woodbridge, VA; daughter-in-law, Rennee Ondrozeck of Vermillion, SD; three granddaughters, Caroline Horning of Richmond, VA, and Kathleen and Samantha Horning of Woodbridge, VA; two grandsons, Paul Ondrozeck of Vermillion, SD and Patrick Ondrozeck of Bend, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews, with whom she had many close relationships. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, J. Dennis and Donald Ondrozeck, husbands, Jerry Ondrozeck and Dwight Van Woert, one brother, Donald McKillop, Sr. and one sister, Lois Kasberg.
