Wanda "June" Patton Holland, 81, moved on to her heavenly reward on Monday, March 7, 2011. June was born February 28, 1930, to Eliza and John Denton Patton in Rockwall, Texas. She graduated from high school in Big Spring, Texas, in 1947. June was an active member of the Big Spring Church of the Nazarene, where she met her husband of 61 years, Lowell Edwin Holland. They were married in 1950 and lived in Big Spring until Lowell was called into active duty with the Marine Corps and sent to Korea. While in Korea, Lowell was injured by a mortar shell which caused him to be totally blind. This injury shaped the rest of their lives together; and June became not only his wife and bride, but in many cases his eyes and guide. It was after this life-changing event that the couple moved to Bethany, Oklahoma, and attended Bethany Nazarene College, now Southern Nazarene University. June earned a degree in Elementary Education in 1956. From 1958 until 2003, June lived in Kansas, first in Chanute and then in Topeka. Most of her life, she was a homemaker and devoted church worker, giving of her time to youth ministry and missions in the Chanute Church of the Nazarene and the Topeka Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene. From 1977-1985, she taught visually impaired students in the Topeka School System. After retirement, she and Lowell traveled extensively overseas as well as across the U.S. in their RV.

June was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Lillian Rhyne of Big Spring TX and Lola Marie Johnson of Dallas TX.

She is survived by her husband Lowell; daughter and son-in-law, Cyndi and Lyndel Lackey; and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Juliana, and Jace Lackey, all of Oklahoma City.
