"Died Friday, August 19th, Newton Blasdel, aged 86 years, six months and five days. Mr Blasdel was the father-in-law of Squire H L Walker to whom we are indebted to for the following facts: Mr Newton Blasdel was born in Dearborn County Feb 14, 1806, and had been a resident of the county for the past 60 years. He was a highly respected citizen and had lived on a farm for many years in Washington Township. The funeral services took place Sunday, at the cemetery near Stringtown. Quite a number of people were in attendance. He was a member of the Universalist Church."
