Ronald Edwin Arteman was born May 31, 1934, in Huron South Dakota, to Edwin and Mayme (Culligan) Arteman. He attended grade school at St. Teresa school and graduated from Huron High School in 1952. He attended St. John's University at Collegeville, Minn, the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, and graduated from Huron college. He served two years in the U.S. Army in Germany.
He was owner and partner in the Pierce Harris Engineering Company since 1970. He was a registered land surveyor in South Dakota.
Ron died Wednesday morning at the Huron Regional Medical Center at the age of 55.
