Married Second Nancy Rhodes, the sister of Absalom Sr. and Aaron Rhodes, issue five sons and five daughters.

He was a Revolutionary War soldier.

Edmund's first wife was named Betsy Ann. They had a son, James and a daughter, Nancy Ann, who married Aaron Rhodes. Edmund later married Nancy Ann, who was a sister of Aaron Rhodes. They had a daughter they named Elizabeth Ann. So Edmund liked the name Ann it appears. "A Lost Arcadia" by Walter Clark in history of Brothersville has Edmund Murphey death as December 10, 1821 and his wife Nancy August 12, 1825. Edmund was first white child born in the county in 1745. Edmund's father was Nicholas who came with his wife to Oglethorpe in 1736.
