Vida Amanda Henrie Zager Winterton, 91, died March 17.

Vida Amanda Henrie Zager Winterton, age 91, of Longview, Washington formerly of Neola died March 17, 2002 in her home in Washington.

She was born June 15, 1910 in Clawson Idaho to James and Caroline Westenskow Henrie.

She married Matthew Zager September 14, 1931 in Vernal their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 15, 1966. Matt passed away on January 2, 1988. She then married Van Winterton April 17, 1993. He passed away July 31, 1999.

Vida and Matt served a two year mission in Australia from 1972-1974.
Vida was assistant Post Master from 1928-1932. She began working in the post office when she was 18 years of age, when her mother passed away. She was then commissioned as Post Master until 1937. Her family came first. They were her greatest joy in life.

For many years Matt and Vida lived in Murray, in the Murray 7th Ward. While she was there she served as the ward Relief Society chorister twice, the ward chorister for 3 years and as the primary chorister. She was a sunday school teacher for 2 years, a substitute primary teacher and was magazine representative for the Children''s Friend for 4 years. She has served as a visiting teacher for 44 years and both she and Matt were budget collectors for 3 years. Her hobbies were music, walking, and she dabbled some in painting and needlework.

She is survived by her son Clyd J (Rae) Zager, Ryderwood, WA; and a daughter in law, Nadine Zager Larsen, Vernal; 9 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 11 great, great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son Lloyd.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 25th, 11:00 AM, at the Neola LDS Chapel.

Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Park under the direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
