Born January 16, 1928 at Leivasy, he was a son of the late Fred and Pearl Mintor Bailes. He was preceded in death by his wife Mabel Bailes. He was a member of the Word of Life Fellowship at Leivasy, and was a disabled coal miner. Survivors include his children, Donald Bailes and wife Pam of Nettie, Jackie Bailes and wife Elaine of O'Delltown, Sheryn Amick and husband Guy of Hominy Falls, Eddie Bailes of O'Delltown, Johnny Bailes of Lexington, S.C.; one brother, Ronald Bailes of Aberdeen, Md.; one sister, Juanita Jackson of Md.; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, November 15, 2010, at the White Funeral Home in Summersville. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery at Mt. Lookout. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
