Joseph Tod Benz, 65, passed away on May 21, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise Humphries Benz and brother, Albert Charles Benz. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Benz and son, Chad Benz.
Tod was a graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he received a degree in History and Geography. He also received a master's degree from the University of West Georgia in school counseling. He was retired from the Clayton County School System, where he served as a techer, school counselor and coach during his 35-year career. Tod was an avid tennis player and coach, winning numerous awards in tournaments and on the ALTA teams he coached and played for. Tod was also a passionate golfer.
Memorial service was held May 28 at the Providence Congregational Methodist Church in Jackson, GA with Reverend Mary Jo Willoughby officiating. Ford-Stewart Funeral Home in Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.
