Per "Ancestors And Collaterals, Revised and enlarged edition of Ancestors of
the Boyer Brothers", Carol Constance (Younker) Boyer, Denver, CO, Sept., 1974 - "Civil War soldier" & "m. 2nd Maggie McKenzie, 2 ch." According to recollection written by nephew, John Fisher, John Ezra's move to Kansas was motivated partly by his health; he, like his sister Malinda Alice, suffered from tuberculosis. He took up the government offer of 160 acres of land.
