A lifetime Lutheran, she and Paul helped establish the first African American Lutheran church in Oklahoma City, Redeemer Lutheran, in the early 1950's. She was a charter member of Messiah Lutheran Church, was very active in Sunday School, Bible classes, Mobile Meals, and Membership Board. She retired from Sears after 27 years. She was a volunteer for Christmas Connection, a member of the Women's Auxiliary of The Salvation Army, and volunteered for the Department of Tourism. She and Howard traveled, participated in antique and art shows, as well as estate liquidations. They loved to dance!
She is survived by her daughter, two granddaughters, one "grandson," one step-daughter, and one step-son.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church-LWML.
