CALLED HOME.

The Spirit of Mrs. Jno. S. McKie Wings
Its Eternal Flight.

One of the saddest deaths ever recorded in Athens, was that of Mrs. Jno. S. McKie, which occurred yesterday morning at 4 o'clock.

Mrs. McKie had been a sufferer for the past few days from gastric fever, and her death was not unexpected to those who ministered at her bedside.

Mrs. McKie was a devout and noble Christian lady, and her death removes from this world to the heavenly ?clime, a saintly mother, affectionate sister and one whose delight was in serving the Lord.

At a tender age Miss May Hayes connected herself with the Methodost(sic) church, of which she was a member until she married Mr. McKie, when her membership was transferred to the Presbyterian church. Since which time she has closely followed the steps of the Master, in whom she trusted implicitly. When the summons came she was ready and fell sweetly to sleep in the arms of Jesus.

Mrs. McKie was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hayes, of Oglethorpe county. She leaves a stricken husband, five little children, father, two brothers and hosts of friends to mourn her death.

May the God of consolation bind the bleeding hearts and sanctify this sore affliction to those on whom the loss so heavily falls.

The Funeral of Mrs. John S. McKie
Yesterday.

It was a sad gathering yesterday morning at ten o'clock at the home of Mr. John S. McKie on Prince avenue.

They had gathered to pay the last loving tribute to their relative and friend this side of the pearly gates.

A choir of several tender and pathetic vocals sang beautifully the funeral hymns, and prayer was offered up in a fervent and touching manner.

Rev. C.W. Lane, pastor of the Presbyterian church in a solemn and impressive manner read a lesson from the Scriptures, after which he spoke of the beautiful Christian life of the departed one and of the glories of the Eternal City to which she had been carried by the angels.

Lovingly and tenderly were the remains of Mrs. McKie laid to rest in the Oconee Cemetery until that great day when all the sainted dead shall rise immortal.
