William Chrisman is the son of "George Harrison Chrisman and Martha Davis Herring." He married first to Virginia who died in 1873 and second to Jane, according to the census records below.

On the 1850 Rockingham Co., VA Census, I found Wm J. Chrisman, 15, residing with George H. and Martha D. Chrisman, both 50, and siblings, all VA born.

On the 1870 Rockingham Co., VA Census, I found Wm Chrisman, 37; VIRGINIA, 28; Mary, 5; Martha, 4 and Margaret, 3, all VA born.

B wrote: "Jane G. Giles. William married Jane May 28, 1875 in Nelson Co., Va." This is based on LDS transcribed marriage records from film.

The LDS Family Search transcribed (non original) marriage record online says he married to Jane G. Giles, born about 1843 on 28 May 1865 and to Ginnie Olivia Gay, born about 1849 on 13 Jan 1875. Are these reversed? Original record confirmation needed.

On the 1880 Rockingham Co., VA Census, I found farmer Wm J Chrisman, 45; wife JANE, 30, they have 3 elder daughters: Mary, 20; Martha, 13 and Margaret, 11, plus younger kids Emma, 3 and Geo Wm, 2, all VA born. The last 2 were born AFTER Wm married "Ginnie Olivia Gay" on "28 May 1875, in Nelson Co., VA."

On the 1900 Rockingham Co., VA Census, I found widower Wm Chrisman, 66, June 1833; daughters: Mary G., 34, Feb 1866; Martha H., 33, Apr 1867; Olive G., 27, Mar 1873 and Aunt M. D. Herring, 89, Aug 1810, all VA born.

In 1910 Wm is living alone, daughter Mary Gay Chrisman has married William S. Fallis.

His wife's markers BOTH says Jane G. Chrisman, which I find very odd. Virginia's says "Jane G. Chrisman, Aged 31 y, 3 m, wife of W. J." and the 2002 cemetery survey says "illegible stone-recorded by Swank in 1960's" It was 1967. William's parents are also in this plot plus a Lula O., died 8 Dec 1871, aged 2 yr, 1 mo, 8d, also "illegible stone recorded by Swank in 1960's." I suspect she is also Wm and Virginia Jane's daughter.
