Derby – Griffith, Jerry Lynn, 80, died May 25, 2011 in Derby, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Corinne Griffith, his brothers, Bert and Floyd and two sons, Bruce and Mark. He is survived by his children Jeffrey (Christine) of Derby, Scot (Suzanne) of Glendale, AZ, Lynn (Nelson) Robertson of Edmond, OK, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Jerry was born January 26, 1931 in Tulsa, OK. He grew up primarily in Ellinwood, Kansas until he moved to Winfield, Kansas his junior year and graduated from Winfield High School in 1949. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Southwestern College in 1953. He served his country in the United States Army, Counter Intelligence Corps from 1953 to 1955. After his service, Jerry earned his Juris Doctorate from Washburn University School of Law in 1957 and moved to Derby, Kansas where he practiced as an attorney until his retirement in 2001. He served the people of Derby as City Attorney for over seventeen years and as a state representative from 1960 to 1968. He was a lifetime member of the American, Kansas, and Sedgwick County Bar Associations and belonged to numerous civic organizations. Visitation with the family will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Smith Mortuary - Derby. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, Derby. A memorial fund has been established with the Derby Community Foundation, P.O.
