After the war, Jack returned to Tech, where he received a B.S. in mechanical engineering. Jack was a helluva engineer. In 1947, he went to work for Carrier Corporation and spent several years bringing air conditioning to Southern industry in the Carolinas, Alabama and Georgia. He married Jean Tollison of Vidalia in 1952. Jack and Jean lived all over the United States in the first eleven years of their marriage, returning to Georgia in 1963. Jack retired from Carrier after 37 years of dedicated service. Jack and Jean lived in Atlanta until the 1990's, when they returned to Vidalia. Jack spent his years in retirement engaged in his vocations of history and genealogy. He did extensive research on the families of Georgia and was always happy to share his knowledge with others. He enjoyed a nationwide email correspondence with genealogy buffs.
Jack loved bourbon, Georgia Tech, yard work, beer, playing cards, critters, spring training with his "Delta Mary's", maps, the South, books and his family, ancestors and progeny. He is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, sweet Jean Tollison Moses of Vidalia; his children Mary Helen Moses of St. Simons Island, Phyllis and Jim Fitzpatrick of Lakeview, Oregon, and Tom and Christina Moses of Atlanta; his grandchildren Kelly and Jared Fitzpatrick and Andrew Moses Ruberti; his brother-in-law Ralph F. Smith, and many beloved nieces and nephews with whom he loved to "reunion". He was preceded in death by his parents Wallace and Mattie Lou Smith Moses, and his siblings Wallace and Billie Moses, Joe and Grace Moses, Harry and Carolyn Moses, and Mary Helen Moses Smith.
Graveside services are at 4:00 on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Pinecrest Cemetery in Vidalia, with Rev. Bucky Kennedy officiating.
