Cause of death was a mining accident at Park Utah Consolidated Mine, Keetley Utah. While leaving the mine, he saw a loose wedge in a timber set and hit it with his prospectors hammer to tighten it. A few rocks were knocked loose, one of which punctured his heart. One of the other miners said that only about a powder box of rocks fell.
