Interment Was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery — Measles Caused Death.
T. J. Ewing, or Jeff Ewing as he was more commonly called, who died last Thursday morning at his home southwest of Edina, was buried Friday afternoon. He was 64 years old. Interment was in the Mt. Carmel cemetery southwest of here, following funeral services at 2 o'clock in the church there by the Rev. O. B. Hobbs, pastor of the M. E. Church, South, at Novelty.
Mr. Ewing had been sick only a few days of measles, which resulted in his death, but had been ailing nearly all winter.
His widow, who before her marriage to Mr. Ewing was Miss Minnie Heimer, survives with their three small daughters. A brother, James C. Ewing, of Kirksville also survives and was called here because of the death.
Thomas Jefferson Ewing was born in East Shelton township April 7, 1863, and was a son of James and Elizabeth Ewing. He always lived in the vicinity of his birth except for a short time some years ago when he and his mother lived in Edina, while he worked in the hardware store for the late F. W. Crabbe. When only a boy Mr. Ewing joined the Mt. Carmel Church, of which he remained a member throughout the remainder of his life.
