Funeral services for Mrs. Lou Ella Henslee, 78, were conducted Monday in the Methodist church with Rev. Richard H. Whitwam. Pastor, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Jimmy Ratliff of Purcell.
Lou Ella Massey was born November 15, 1881 at Birmingham, Alabama, and died Friday morning at her home at 203 SW Eighth.
At the age of 11 she moved with her parents to Hood County, Texas, in a covered wagon. December 25, 1900, she married Jim Henslee, and shortly afterward they came to Indian Territory and settled at Dibble. They made their home there for 12 years then moved to a farm north of Lindsay. They moved to their present home in Lindsay in 1946.
She became a member of the Methodist Church in 1953.
Mrs. Henslee is survived by 12 children, Mahota Henslee, Fayetteville, Arkansas; Lillie Henslee, Granbury, Texas; Mack Henslee, Mrs. Flossie Heatley, Mrs. Ada Evans, James, J.B. and Gilbert Henslee all of California, Mrs. Fannie Webb, Mrs. Ola Gearhart, Mrs. Lorene Smith and Linell Henslee of Lindsay. Also by five sisters: Mrs. Vesta Eades, Galveston, Texas; Mrs. Dallas Ball and Mrs. Nettie Echoes, Fort Worth, Texas; Mrs. Kate Cleveland, Granbury, Texas and Mrs. Alton Frederick, Cleburne, Texas; two brothers: Floyd and J.W. Massey, Fort Worth; 40 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Interment was at the Greenhill cemetery under the direction of Brown Funeral Home.
