Leo C. Breth, age 87 of Melrose, died on Saturday, March 02, 2002 at the St. Cloud Hospital from injuries due to a car accident.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 5, 2002 at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose. Rev. Vincent Lieser officiated with interment following in the parish cemetery.
Leo Breth was born on January 25, 1915 in Krain Township, to Leopold and Anna (Wogdoll) Breth. He married Eleanor Schmitz on May 13, 1941 in St. Francis. The couple farmed in the Holdingford area until moving to Melrose in 1946. Leo worked at Kraft Foods in Melrose until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Melrose and the Melrose Knights of Columbus, Council #1633.
Survivors include his children, Betty Kemper and her husband, Marvin of Melrose, Bob Breth and his wife, Cheryl of Melrose, Larry Breth and his wife, Simone of Foley, Jerry Breth and his wife, Marilyn of St. Cloud, Patrick Breth and his wife, Mary of Melrose; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Mike Breth and his wife, Frances of Holdingford; sister, Theresa Harlander and her husband, Art Sr. of Holdingford.
Leo is preceded in death by his parents, Leopold and Anna Breth; wife, Eleanor Breth on June 14, 1993; infant son, Ronald Breth; brothers and sisters, Steve Breth Sr., Susie Jarnot, John Breth, Jake Breth, Lawrence Breth, Lucy Kremers, Annie Breth, Bill Breth Sr., Joe Breth, Lucille Lange and Marie Breth.
Serving as casket bearers were Patrick Breth, Jerry Breth, Larry Breth, Bob Breth, Shannon Kemper and Glen Kemper. Serving as cross bearer were Reed Breth and scripture bearer was Andrea Breth.
Serving as honorary bearers will be John Faber, Tony Wegleitner, Clarence Jarnot, Tom Lange, Werner Breth, Mike Breth, Larry Ostendorf and Connie Salzman.
