1929 - 2004
Daniel G. Bringe, 74, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 under the care of Hospice and family. He died from lung cancer. A family service was held. As he requested, his body was given to UND for medical studies.
Dan Bringe was born July 18, 1929 in Melrose, MN. He graduated from high school, joined the Army, and trained as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne in the Occupation of Japan. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant.
On October 10, 1950, Dan Bringe married high school sweetheart, Joan Tembrock. They moved to Duluth, MN where he worked for a large candy and tobacco firm. In 1962 they moved to Fargo. Dan became interested in selling securities. He enjoyed successful years with IDS and WestAmerica Securities.
Dan returned to candy and tobacco sales with Frank McKone Cigar Company. He loved serving his accounts and to many, became affectionately known as "Dan the Candy Man."
Dan also participated in the Voluntary Community Blood Program, and was honored with the LifeGiver award.
He is survived by his wife Joan Bringe; a son, James, Fargo, ND; two daughters, Karen Aske, Albuquerque, NM; Mary Adams, St. Paul, MN; three grandchildren, Kate, Matthew, and Jared; two brothers, and four sisters.
He will be greatly missed but as he so often said, it was time to "Get to Gittin."
Burial was in Row 2 of Section E in St. Mary's Cemetery in Melrose, Minnesota.
