WILLIAM E. "GENE" BROOKS
William E. "Gene" Brooks died unexpectedly Nov. 18 at 11:30 p.m. in North Village Park, Moberly, where he had lived for the past two years.
Mr. Books was born in Huntsville, the son of George and Ollie Allen Brooks. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Roy, and daughter Bonnie.
He was born Aug. 1, 1912.
He married Maurine Overfelt in Cairo Aug. 17, 1935.
Surviving are his wife, Maurine of North Village Park; a son, Robert Eugene Brooks and wife Barbara of Armstrong; a daughter, Norma Jean Webster and husband Tim of Excello; a sister, Irene Belcher of North Village Park in Moberly, and granchildren Ronald Brooks of Phoenix, Az., Holly Hughes of Liberty, Kathy Garrett of Fulton, Tim Cundiff of Armstrong, Rick Cundiff of Huntsville; grandson, Matt Webster; and nephew, Robert Belcher.
Mr. Brooks had lived in Randolph County all of his life and had worked for local quarries and Fessler Manufacturing Company and been maintenance supervisor for Villa De Silva. After retirement, Mr. Brooks operated a Wood Shop. He had attended Mt. Shiloh Church at Darksville, and was of the Christian faith.
Funeral service for Mr. Brooks will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Million-Taylor-Patton Funeral Home in Moberly. Burial will be in the Grand Prairie Cemetery, north of Cairo. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
