John Oliver Shroyer, one of the best known men of Adamsville, died at the Good Samaritan Hispital in Zanesville, Sunday evening, March 28, 1919. He had been in ill health for several months suffering from a complication of diseases. About two weeks ago he was compelled to undergo an operation for hernia and was taken to Good Samaritan hospital at Zanesville for that purpose. He rallied nicely from the operation and for awhile it appeared as thought he might recover sufficiently to be about again, but he suddenly took a turn for the works and declined rapidly util the end.
The deceased was the son of Christian and Catherine Shroyer, and was born in Salem Township, June 19. 1849 and had lived almost three score and ten years when the summons came. After reaching manhood he married Catherine Noble to which union three sons and two daughters were born All of theses children are living and are: Mrs. Mary Wisecarver, of Salem Township; G. N. Shroyer, of Adams Township; O. L. Shoyer, of Washington Twonship; and C. C. Shroyer, of Columbus. Besides these children he is survived by three sisters, Mre. Caroline Edwards, of Zanesville, Mrs. Jan Buker a twin sister, of Salem Township and Mrs. Mary A Stewart of this village. Mr. Shoyer was an active man throughout his life. He was a willing worker and no task in the ordinary avocation of life was too difficult for him to undertake. He held various offices of trust throughout his life and was constable of the township when he died. He was a kind husband and father and a good accommodation neighbor
Undertaker H. E. Shirer, who will have charge of the burial, went to Zanesville Monday and brought the remains to the family home in this village, where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday forenoon at 10:30 o'clock, in the Adamsville M. E. church by Rev M. E. Hilbert. Interment will be made in the New Hope Lutheran cemeterey
