Walter Harrison Carson, Jr. was born in York County, South Carolina. Soon after moving with his mother and several siblings to Clarke County, Georgia. married Rebecca Narcissus Martin. In the 1850 census, Walter gave his occupation as cooper. He moved his family from Clarke Co. to Franklin Co. Georgia about 1855 and lived on the Hudson River below Hebron Church. In 1878 he bought a farm on Little Creek in the Ashland Community and gave each of his three sons a share of the land. Each son built a home there. A great-grandson, William Carson, still owns and lives on part of that ancestoral farm. Walter was an elder of Hebron Presbyterian Church from 1859 until his death in 1887 and clerk of the session from 1865-1875. Walter Carson resigned his office as clerk of session and T.A. Mayes was elected in his stead on May 1, 1875. J.H. Glasure was still on the session as well as J.N. Alexander and C.H. Little. Groves H. Cartledge, Pastor.
